Services

Counselling:
At Counselling North Canterbury, Tim offers individual, couples or family counselling. This counselling can be for a range of issues or challenges that are facing his clients. He conducts his work with a Solution-Focused mindset and has a clear goal of enabling clients to develop their own skills, attributes and strategies for managing and overcoming the challenges they are facing.
Supervision: Tim is a NZAC recognised Supervisor and can offer supervision to other counsellors and professionals. Due to Tim's extensive knowledge of the New Zealand Education System and his facility and understanding of PB4L (Positive Behaviour for Learning), he is well placed to supervise School Principals. The demands on these professionals is increasing in scope and expectations and Tim can help Principals to look after their own Hauora (Wellbeing) which in turn will benefit school staff, children and communities.
Parenting Advice / Strategies for Behaviour Management:
Behaviour is a skill to be taught and learned, not simply punished. At Counselling North Canterbury Tim offers a wide range of practical and evidence-based approaches for supporting young people and their caregivers to work together to manage and improve challenging behaviour. He can support with routines around 'screen time', bed-times, meal-times and all of the other day-to-day issues that can arise when caring for young people. He is well-regarded for his work: "Parenting the Difficult Child". Tim has been working with children and young people for 23 years in New Zealand and the USA. He has worked as a Resource Teacher of Learning & Behaviour (RTLB) across 38 North Canterbury Schools supporting teachers, whanau and students to manage and respond to challenging behaviours. He is a trained Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) facilitator and has supported many schools to train and implement this evidence-based programme that improves social and educational outcomes for all children.
Public Speaking:
Tim has been engaging in public speaking since 2012 and in that time has developed a positive reputation for his practical, down-to-earth and at times humorous talks on a range of topics related to parenting and behaviour management strategies.
